To all and Singular to whom these Presents shall come I Sir John Bernard Burke, Ulster King of Arms and Principal Herald of all Ireland, Knight Attendant on the Most Illustrious Order of St. Patrick send Greeting. Whereas Dominic John Corrigan of Merrion Square in the City of Dublin Doctor of Medicine Trinity College Dublin, President of the King and Queens College of Physicians in Ireland second son of John Corrigan of the City of Dublin deceased, by Celia O’Connor his wife, hath made application to me setting forth that upon examination it does not appear that the Armorial Ensigns borne by his family were recorded in my Office, he is therefore desirous that such Arms should be assigned as may be proper to be borne by him and his descendants and by the other descendants of his father John Corrigan of the City of Dublin deceased and has requested me to grant and confirm the same accordingly. Know ye therefore that I the said Ulster King of Arms having taken the request of the said applicant into consideration am pleased to comply with the same and by virtue of the power to me given by Her Majesty’s Royal Letters Patent under the Great Seal of Ireland and by authority of the same have given and granted and by these Presents do grant ratify and confirm unto the said Dominic John Corrigan Doctor of Medicine and his descendants and to the other descendants of his aforesaid father the Arms following Viz. Or, a Chevron between two Trefoils slipped Vert in Chief and a Lizard in base proper. For Crest, A Sword in pale point downwards in front thereof two Battle Axes in saltire, all proper. And for Motto, CONSILIO ET IMPETU, the whole as is above more clearly depicted to be borne and used for ever hereafter by him the said Dominic John Corrigan Doctor Of Medicine and his descendants and by the other descendants of his aforesaid father John Corrigan of the City of Dublin deceased according to the laws of Arms without the let hindrance molestation or interruption of any person or persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof I have subscribed these Presents and affixed hereto my Official Seal this Sixth day of March in the Twenty third year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and so forth, and in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty.
