GENEALOGICAL RESOURCES — PUBLICATIONS

Samuel Lewis

A Topographical Dictionary of Ireland (two volumes)

General Alphabetical Index to the Townlands and Towns, Parishes and Baronies of
            Ireland

Reprints of works published in 1837 and 1861, respectively.  They provide perhaps the
best available surveys of both pre- and post- Famine Ireland.

The Famine Immigrants

Gives data on over a half a million people who left Ireland for America from 1846 to
1851:  name, age, sex, family relationship (where noted), occupation, and when the
person sailed, on what ship, and from which port.  (seven book set)

Margaret Dickson Falley

Irish and Scotch-Irish Ancestral Research

Considered the best single tool for Irish genealogical research.  (two volumes)

Volume I  ‘describes genealogical collections and indexes in all major Irish repositories,
as well as published indexes, catalogues and source materials in Ireland and the United
States.

Volume II  contains bibliographies of family histories, pedigrees and source data.

Brian Mitchell

A New Genealogical Atlas of Ireland

Particularly useful in conjunction with the topographical dictionary and the general
alphabetical index.
